Burt’s Bees is an under-recognized brand in the vegan protein powder space. When we hear “Burt’s Bees,” we immediately think moisturizing lip balm. But having put both the chocolate and vanilla flavors of Burt’s Bees Daily Protein through the review process, I foresee a bright future for this brand. In this Burt’s Bees Daily Protein review, we cover the product’s nutritional composition, flavor profile, and price (or overall value). Spoiler alert: Burt’s Bees Daily Protein is an unsung hero. Not does it have some of the highest quality ingredients, but it’s one of the best tasting vegan protein powders on the market.
Burt’s Bees Daily Protein might look like a boutique, fancy-pants protein powder tailored toward conscious consumers with deep pockets. But it’s actually far more versatile, affordable, and universally-applicable for all walks of life. The protein itself is a premium quality blend that contains all essential amino acids (including BCAAs), so it’s suitable for high-performing athletes looking to optimize recovery. But beyond performance, Burt’s Bees Daily Protein has delicious taste that anyone can enjoy. Nutrition Review: What Are Burt’s Bees Daily Protein Ingredients?
Burt’s Bees Daily Protein is a nutritional powerhouse. And for good reason. As a little background knowledge on Burt’s Bees – the company has been around for decades, mindfully selected premium-quality ingredients for all of its products. Burt’s Bees Daily Protein contains both organic and non-GMO ingredients, as well as no artificial sweeteners or flavors. It’s also gluten-free and and soy-free. But beyond consciously sourced ingredients, this vegan protein powder is both balanced and nutrient dense.
As we dive into the ingredients and nutritional review of Burt’s Bees Daily Protein, it’s worth noting that the Vanilla and Chocolate flavors both have slightly unique compositions. Although the differences are subtle, the Chocolate flavor has slightly less carbohydrates and 0 grams of sugar, while the Vanilla flavor has 1 gram of sugar. Also, the Chocolate contains two fewer servings (only 16) compared to the Vanilla which as 18 servings. Depending on where you buy your Burt’s Bees Daily Protein, these differences are reflected in the price. More on this below.
Burt’s Bees Daily Protein is a complete protein combination of organic pea, rice, flaxseed, sunflower seed, and oat. The first two ingredients (pea and rice) ensure your getting a plant-based protein powder with all essential amino acids, including branched chain amino acids. Although the label does not indicate the amino acid content, I think it’s fair to assume one serving as approximately 3 grams of BCAAs. Because there is only 15 grams of protein per serving, performance users may opt for more than one scoop. However, if you’re using Burt’s Bees Daily Protein with other foods that contain protein (i.e. green smoothies, oatmeal, or as a baking substitute), one scoop may offer plenty of protein.
Aside from the 15 grams of protein, the macronutrient profile of Burt’s Bees Daily Protein (Vanilla) is rounded-out with only 1 gram of fat and 11 grams of carbohydrates (supported by 3 grams of fiber). Compared to other vegan protein powders, this is actually a slightly higher amount carbs (although still not much). It’s a good indication that the concentrated fruits and vegetables are present, as a single serving of Burt’s Bees Daily Protein provides 2 servings of fruits and vegetables. This is Burt’s Bees Fruit and Vegetable Nutrient Blend, which contains spinach, broccoli, tomato, carrot, beet, apple, cranberry, cherry, orange, strawberry, blueberry, and shitake mushroom. Rad!
With it’s pure concentration of fruits and vegetables, Burt’s Bees Daily Protein is loaded with essential vitamins and minerals, including A, C, D, E, K, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, b6, folate, biotin and pantothenic acid. It’s definitely one of the most nutritious and healthy vegan protein powders on the market. But does it have good taste to match its good health?
Flavor Review: Does Burt’s Bees Protein Powder Taste Good?
The only two flavors for Burt’s Bees Daily Protein are Vanilla and Chocolate. Both have a pleasant maltiness that’s quite unique and delicious. Additionally, both Vanilla and Chocolate share the same degree of consistency and mixability, as both have a very refined and easy to absorb texture that’s both smooth and creamy.
Does Burt’s Bees Daily Protein taste good? You bet it does. Both the Vanilla and Chocolate flavors are rich, bold, and distinct from other plant-based protein powders. The smell lends to a very pleasant and inviting aroma (unlike some vegan protein powders). Based on the ingredients, the flavoring agents are all completely natural and there’s no artificial sweeteners or flavors. For instance, both flavors of Burt’s Bees Daily Protein contain honey powder as a primary ingredient. This is likely what gives the product such a distinguished flavor profile, in addition to the other sweeteners: stevia leaf and monk fruit extract. Overall, the taste is very well balanced in terms of sweet and rich, with no lingering aftertaste from the stevia. Burt’s Bees Daily Protein is unquestionably one of the best tasting vegan protein powders I’ve ever had.
Burt’s Bees Daily Protein Vanilla Review
There’s no doubt that Burt’s Bees Daily Protein Vanilla is one of the best tasting reviews I have ever experienced. I was taken by the overall malty flavor of this protein powder, as it renders a very nostalgic taste of a malted milkshake. It’s so creamy and delicious that if blindfolded, one could rightfully question whether or not there’s dairy in the product. Needless to say there is not. But if you’re looking for the next best thing to a vanilla malted milkshake, Burt’s Bees Daily Protein Vanilla is it.
Unlike some vegan protein powders that are overly-sweet, too earthy, or not sweet enough, Burt’s Bees Daily Protein is perhaps the most balanced and properly sweetened plant-based protein powder. The product tastes very clean and pure, which is a reflection of its high-quality ingredients and Burt’s Bees conscious sourcing. But not only is the taste review of Burt’s Bees Daily Protein Vanilla outstanding, it’s also highly-versatile. This flavor is a fine addition to many different recipes, ranging from fruit smoothies, creamy shakes, oats, chia seeds, or simply stirred with oatmeal for an easy pudding snack.
Burt’s Bees Daily Protein Chocolate Review
While I admittedly prefer vanilla flavored protein powders, I’ve become quite fond of Burt’s Bees Daily Protein Chocolate. Similar to the Vanilla flavor above, it’s incredibly creamy. However, the flavor profile is not the sweet milk chocolate flavor you might expect. Although it’s mildly sweet and reminiscent to brownie batter, Burt’s Bees Daily Protein Chocolate is actually more like a dark chocolate with a nice hint of bitterness. Next the honey powder, organic contains cocoa powder serves as the primary agent for its chocolaty goodness. As such, you get a pleasantly complex flavor profile that makes for the perfect inclusion for any recipe.
I’ve enjoyed playing with this protein powder quite a bit. One of my favorite applications of Burt’s Bees Daily Protein Chocolate is to stir a scoop into a bowl of oatmeal with creamy, Califia Almond Milk. Add a dollop of peanut butter and maybe a little banana, and you have a quick and easy breakfast, dessert, snack, or post-workout meal. What I also like about Burt’s Bees Daily Protein Chocolate is that it’s not overly sweet like some vegan protein powders. It’s well balanced, smooth, and I’d surely buy it again.

Price Review: How Much Does Burt’s Bees Daily Protein Cost?
In most cases of high-quality vegan protein powders that are 100% organic and taste amazing, the price can be a little high. And as you might expect Burt’s Bees Daily Protein to be more of boutique brand with a high price tag, it’s actually moderately priced. But because the cost will fluctuate depending on the seller (especially if you buy the product on Amazon where prices may vary), I am not able to list the precise cost of Burt’s Bees Daily Protein. However, I can give you an approximate price range and value rating of the product given its overall nutritional value, flavor profile, and volume relative to comparable plant-based protein powders.
In the overall marketplace of vegan protein powders, Burt’s Bees Daily Protein is priced right about average in the low $30 range. While I paid $29 for this product at a local retailer, I have seen Daily Protein available on Amazon for as low as $27 per 19 ounce tub.
The standard 19 ounce tub offers 18 servings per Vanilla unit and 16 servings for the Chocolate. Because each serving is only 15 grams of protein, you’re not getting quite as much protein for your dollar (compared to some products that offer the same amount of servings, or more, but 20 grams of protein per serving.) Still, Burt’s Bees Daily Protein is priced slightly less than most comparable plant-based protein powders on the market, and you’re getting a very nutritious product that offers an incredible spectrum of ingredients and great taste. As such, Burt’s Bees Daily Protein earns a 5 out of 5 on the value rating.
