Having reviewed both Sunwarrior Warrior Blend and Classic Plus, I can’t deny that Warrior Blend is my favorite.

Cleanly sourced, sugar-free, and delicious, Warrior Blend is one of my favorite all-around vegan protein powders on the market. Why?

Sunwarrior Warrior Blend is one of the most (if not the most) ketogenic protein powders that contain little to no carbohydrates or sugar, plus MCTs. I also enjoy the taste because it’s not overly sweet and doesn’t dominate other ingredients I am using it with.

So, if you’re searching for the ultimate Sunwarrior protein powder review, then you’ve come to the right place. Explore this in-depth review or take a cursory glance at what interests you most.

Why Sunwarrior Protein Powder is a Win

Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Gluten-Free Protein Powder

This is an extensive review of Sunwarrior Warrior Blend protein powder, one of Sunwarrior’s flagship products and one of the most popular plant-based protein supplements on the market.

It’s designed for both health-minded individuals and high-performance athletes looking to optimize post-workout recovery. You can usually find it on shelves in most Whole Foods markets and natural health food stores.

Sunwarrior Warrior Blend is an organic, non-GMO, raw vegan protein powder that has a solid amino acid profile. Not only is it a grain-free and paleo protein powder (in that there’s no brown rice protein like that of its cousin Sunwarrior Classic Plus,) but it’s also ketogenic-friendly in that it contains no sugar.

In this Sunwarrior Warrior Blend review, I’ll give you the scoop on this product’s nutritional composition, along with my opinion of the taste of three of the most common flavors: natural (stevia-free), vanilla, and chocolate.

I also provide you with a value rating that weighs the cost versus quality of Sunwarrior Warrior Blend with that of related plant-based protein powder products.

Nutrition Review: What Are Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Ingredients?

As for the basics of Sunwarrior Warrior Blend’s ingredients and nutritional review, consumers can rest assured knowing that this protein powder is free of any soy, gluten, dairy (obviously), and no GMOs.

There are also no artificial ingredients and no added sugar. In fact, there is no sugar and very low carbs, making it a keto vegan protein powder.

Sunwarrior Warrior Blend is a simple yet effective protein blend that contains three powerhouse sources: organic pea protein, organic cranberry protein, and organic hemp seed protein.

A single-scoop serving provides 19 grams of protein. And at 40 servings in a 2.2-pound tub of Warrior Blend (not shown below), but offers a considerable amount of protein packed into one tub.

This raw vegan protein powder provides a whopping to about 5.8 grams of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), which up there with comparable products that also offer 5-6 grams of BCAAs per serving. As a level-up from the old Warrior Blend, this new and improved product provides a high-performing, sport vegan protein powder that’s designed for athletes and muscle building

In addition to being a premium-quality, ketogenic-friendly, and paleo-friendly vegan protein powder, Sunwarrior Warrior Blend also has a bit of ancient sea salt, ground coconut, and MCTs (medium-chain triglycerides), which offers a nice addition for athletes, especially fat-adapted and ketogenic individuals.

Lastly in the nutrition review, Sunwarrior Warrior Blend does have organic vanilla flavor and organic stevia, so it’s somewhat sweet tasting. However, the level of sweetness is not overbearing, nor is there any awkward aftertaste from the stevia. Overall, Sunwarrior Warrior Blend is pretty simple from a nutritional standpoint, but it’s complete and contains all essential amino acids without any questionable ingredients (or any sugar!)

Flavor Review: Does Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Protein Powder Taste Good?

Now onto the part that some individuals value most: the flavor review of Warrior Blend protein powder. There are five total flavors of Sunwarrior Warrior Blend: Natural (unsweetened/stevia-free), Vanilla, Chocolate, Mocha, and Berry.

I was only able to taste the former three, which I review below. It’s worth noting that each flavor was consistently smooth, as the powder itself was extremely refined and easy to mix and blend. The result: no grittiness, minimal chalkiness, smooth texture, delicious flavor, and greater transparency (so that you can taste the actual ingredients of what you’re eating.) It’s definitely one of my favorite protein powders from Sunwarrior.

Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Natural Review

If you’re looking for a paleo, raw vegan protein powder that tastes completely transparent to the point of being undetected, then Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Natural is a smooth, natural choice. It’s virtually flavorless and stevia-less, so it’s up to you to bring in the flavor, whether you’re adding it to a smoothie or mixing it with your milk and oats.

Perhaps it’s because this is an unflavored vegan protein powder, but Warrior Blend Natural was slightly chalky tasting to me, unlike the other two below. I do start each flavor review by only using unflavored almond milk, so these details are more apparent. Later combining Warrior Blend natural into a smoothie dissipated all signs of being chalky.

Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Vanilla Review sunwarrior warrior blend vanilla protein powder review

With the addition to Stevia, the level of flavor and sweetness of Warrior Blend Vanilla is taken-up a notch, but not too much. It’s moderately sweet and has a nice vanilla flavor up-front. It’s really smooth and custardy and presents a slightly more nutty flavor profile with hints of macadamia nut, brazil nut, and almond.

When trying Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Vanilla with just almond milk, I found it to be a bit basic. It wasn’t bad, but there just wasn’t a lot going on. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially if you prefer unflavored vegan protein powders. But I suggest using it in conjunction with other flavorful ingredients, like a fruit smoothie or oats with peanut butter.

Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Chocolate Review sunwarrior warrior blend chocolate review

Probably the best protein powder flavor in this review is Warrior Blend Chocolate. It has a delightfully rich and brownie-like taste up-front that’s just right in terms of sweetness. It didn’t seem to be as boring as the latter two flavors, as the chocolate was dark and rich, like quality Dutch cocoa or those little cacao nibs.

The overall flavor of Warrior Blend Chocolate was smooth, creamy, and pleasing, making it my favorite of the three (and I typically prefer Vanilla.) I would highly recommend this flavor to anyone looking for a decadent, fudge-forward vegan protein powder that’s grain-free and complete with amino acids.

Price Review: How Much Does Sunwarrior Warrior Blend Cost?

sunwarrior warrior blend review cost

Because the price of Sunwarrior Warrior Blend raw protein powder varies based on the seller (especially if you buy the product on Amazon where there’s a number of sellers), I am unable to define a specific price tag. But what I can do is give you a value rating of the cost Sunwarrior Warrior Blend with respect to its overall quality, volume, and comparability to other high-quality non-GMO vegan protein powders.

On the complete spectrum of vegan plant-based protein powders, Sunwarrior Warrior Blend is slightly on the higher end. But compared to similar performance products in its class, it’s actually pretty standard and fairly priced. One can easily spend upwards of $50 for a 2-pound tub of BCAA-rich, performance plant protein (oftentimes with less than 25 servings.) But with Sunwarrior Warrior Blend, you can usually find 2.2-pound tubs priced under $50 (typically in the mid-to-high $40 range.)  All in all, Sunwarrior Warrior Blend is a solid protein powder that offers a good value.
