What makes Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein a sports protein powder is that it contains vital ingredients essential for athletic recovery. Garden of Life Sport Organic protein powder includes a rich concentration of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), l-glutamine, and probiotics, to name a few. And not only is it soy-free, gluten-free, ketogenic, and paleo-friendly, this sport vegan protein powder is also infused with Garden of Life’s “Organic Muscle Recovery Blend.”

Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein is one of the few high-caliber blends that rivals comparable products like Vega Sport Protein and PlantFusion Complete Plant Protein. One might argue that it takes the top spot on the podium with its incredible nutritional profile and taste. I guess you’ll just have to read further into the review to find out.

Like all plant-based protein powder reviews on this website, we go deep. Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein is no exception. Not only do we analyze the ingredients and nutritional features of this product, but we give you an honest yet subjective idea as to how it tastes. We also round out the review by providing you with a value rating. This takes into consideration the price and quality of Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein compared to related products.

Nutrition Review: What Are Garden of Life Sport Protein Ingredients?

Kicking off the nutritional review of Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein are the basics: it’s certified USDA organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, NSF Certified for Sport and contains no added sugars. In fact, there is just 1 gram of sugar per serving, so it’s mostly a keto-friendly vegan protein powder if you’re into that sort of thing.

Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant Protein Ingredients Review

While most vegan protein powders contain brown rice protein, hemp protein, soy protein, etc., this product is a little different. Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein contains a unique protein blend comprised of: organic pea protein, organic sprouted navy bean, organic sprouted lentil bean, organic sprouted garbanzo bean, and organic cranberry seed protein.

One suggested serving of Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein is two hefty scoops, providing 30 grams of protein, 4 grams of carbohydrates (1 gram of sugar), and 3 grams of fat. This comes out to be 160 grams of total calories in a serving.

However, keep in mind that the body can only absorb so much protein in one sitting. So if you’re using this product in a green smoothie, oats, or a recipe, you may not need the full two scoops. The typical sized tub of Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein is 1 pound 12 ounces. And at the suggested serving size, you’re only getting 19 servings per tub.

In terms of amino, a single serving provides a whopping 5,502 mg of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) and 11,939 mg of essential amino acids (EAAs). On the spectrum of vegan sport protein powders, there are few products that contain more amino acids than this.

But that’s not all. This protein powder rich with vegan BCAAs is also equipped with an antioxidant blend that contains organic turmeric, organic tart cherries, organic goji berries, organic apples, and organic blueberries, which is designed to promote faster recovery.

For immunity support (and athletic recovery), Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein provides 2 Billion CFU of probiotics per serving (bifidobacterium lactis, to be specific). And lastly, Garden of Life stamps this vegan protein powder as “certified clean,” which essentially means that the protein and amino acids blend is clean and free of any banned substances.

Overall, this is one of the most advanced performance blends I’ve witnessed, especially in the realm of vegan protein powder for muscle gain. As such, Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein earns a 5 out of 5 on the nutritional rating.

Flavor Reviews: Does Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein Taste Good?

Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein powder comes in two flavors: Vanilla and Chocolate. Both have a distinct, mellow flavor, unlike most other plant-based protein powders that are typically very intense and overly sweet. Each flavor is modestly sweet and very well balanced. Although the product does contain organic stevia leaf extract, the sweetness is low-key and there’s no weird stevia taste or lingering aftertaste.

Garden of LIfe Sport Protein Vanilla Review

The protein powder itself is very fine and concentrated (dusty, if you will), so it mixes easily in smoothies and other quick applications. It’s a nice addition to green smoothies, chia seeds, oatmeal, or a bowl of cereal.

Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein Vanilla Review

Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein Vanilla is deliciously tame and slightly more transparent than most vanilla protein powders. It tastes more like a natural or unflavored protein powder, but with subtle, semi-sweet hints of vanilla.

For some consumers, this is a great thing, because there are far too many vegan protein powders that are overly sweetened to point of disgust. But if you’re seeking a plant-based sport protein powder that’s more on the sweet side, this may not fit the bill. Still, the texture is smooth and creamy, and the flavor profile is reminiscent to custard or cheesecake. I really like Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein Vanilla and regularly use this product.

Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein Chocolate Review

Garden of Life Sport Protein Chocolate Review

The organic flavor blend in Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein Chocolate is comprised of organic cacao, organic carob, organic chocolate flavors, organic vanilla flavor, sea salt, and organic stevia leaf extract. The unique combination of organic cacao and organic carob provides a deep, Dutch chocolate flavor that’s savory and semi-sweet.

Smooth, creamy, and rich like a chocolate fudge brownie ice cream, this flavor strikes a chord for those who like chocolate-flavored protein powders. A such, I would place Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein Chocolate in the top three in this class of flavors. You can’t go wrong.

Beyond pleased with the great taste of this product line from Garden of Life, the Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein scores a 5 out of 5 in the flavor review category.

Price Review: How Much Does Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein Cost?

Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant Based Protein Powder

Because the price of Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein varies based on market demands, product production, and seller competition (especially if you buy the product on Amazon where there are numerous retailers offering differing prices and incentives), I am unable to list a specific price here in the review. But what I can do is give you a value rating of Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein with respect to the product’s quality, volume, and cost compared to other plant-based sport protein powders on the market.

In the category of sports performance product reviews, Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein is about average on the price spectrum. You can typically find a 1 pound 14 ounce tub priced in the high $30 to low $40 price range. In the grand scheme of plant-based protein powders, this may seem a little high. But when it comes to great-tasting products with quality, recovery-optimizing ingredients, the cost is right on par.

If you’re using products like Vega Sport Performance and other high-caliber vegan protein powders, then I highly suggest trying Garden of Life Sport Organic Plant-Based Protein. It’s especially great for those who are sensitive to stevia and highly-sweet taste products.
